Decades long tradition in the aeronautic field
prototype was exposed to the Paris Aeronautic Showroom
- Le Bourget in June 1997 and then at Farnoborough
in September 1998- The modernization is applied to new aircrafts as well as to those existing in the service of the Romanian Air Forces. IAR- 99 ŞOIM is used as training jet airplanes on combat airplanes for reconnaissance and close air support.
IAR 99 ŞOIM is propelled by
a Rolls-Royce Viper Mk632-
41 turbo reactor engine, the maximum horizontal flight speed (H=0) as training airplane is 865 km/h, and
the flight autonomy is 1.100
km (2 hour and 40 minutes without refuelling - using only the internal fuel - without additional tanks attached). The service threshold is 12.900 m.
Maintenance and repair services for military and civil airplanes
