AVIOANE CRAIOVA
AVIOANE CRAIOVA SA was established in 1972 in order to produce and supply military aircrafts for the Romanian Air Forces,
The company started its activity as place producer by cooperating with companies
in former Yugoslavia in the development of the common project for the ground bombing and attack aircraft IAR-93 (200 such airplanes were delivered to the Air Forces).
In the 80s, the company has introduced for manufacturing
a 100% romanian projects, the school and training aircraft
IAR 99. The aircraft is even currently being manufactures and in the service of the Romanian Air Forces, in the modernized version- IAR 99 ȘOIM and IAR 99 STANDARD. The design, manufacturing and certification of the equipment in the own facilities, is a proof of the capacities of AVIOANE CRAIOVA SA as ideal partner in the design and manufacturing of aircrafts.
It must be observed that
AVIOANE CRAIOVA SA is the only Romanian producer in the aircraft industry which made components for the Ariane
5 missile, used in the ESA (European Spatial Agency) programs.
Currently AVIOANE CRAIOVA SA has over 300 employees, the shares of the company being owned by the Romanian state, through the Minister of Economy (80,93%) and small private shareholders (19,06%). The company is listed on the ATS - AeRO market of the Bucharest stock exchange.
IAR 99 ŞOIM - a top product of the company
An advanced training aircraft with adequate tactical support, IAR 99 Şoim was developed
by AVIOANE CRAIOVA SA in cooperation with the Israeli company Elbit Systems. The problem was the installation
of an advanced avionics
and weapon system. The design and integration of
the demonstrative prototype lasted three months. The first test flight took place on May 22, 1997. The demonstrative
Impressive technical capabilities
The company’s technical possibilities cover a wide field of engineering and design activities, product maintenance, testing, design and performance of tools and checkers, manufacturing of aircrafts and structural and product support subassemblies. The products and services offered by AVIOANE CRAIOVA SA cover all manufacturing areas:
processing aluminium and steel alloy parts;
specially qualified processes for aviation: surface thermal and protection treatments (cadmium plating, anodizing, phosphating, ionic nistriding etc.); general installation, final assembly, fitting and testing;
final painting (including aircraft painting) in an average size facility;
destructive defectoscoptive tests, laboratory tests for testing materials and equipment and measurement on small, medium and big size digital machines (C.M.M.)
