The health tourism –
a business card for
Romania
Endowed with an enviable position, which allows the development of different forms of tourism - sea, mountain, ecumenical tourism, delta tourism or balneal tourism, Romania tends to become a landmark on the European tourism map and why not, on the world tourism map. One of the most obvious forms of reinventing itself is the balneal-medical tourism, also called ‘health’ tourism.
Balneal-medical vacations have a double purpose - they are meant for both relaxation and healthcare. Balneal tourism or the balneal-medical treatment
is considered to be a niche form of tourism, practiced by people wishing to solve their health problems or by those wanting
to prevent the occurrence or the worsening of certain conditions. Romania is one of the countries with the most diverse possibilities for the tourists using the services of the balneal centers, and such areas, spread throughout the country, can provide a special background for the balneal tourism, some of them having
a great economic and cultural potential, others being less known.
Whether we are talking about mineral and thermal mineral waters, therapeutic lakes, mud, emissions of therapeutic gases, salt mines or medicinal plants, every resort that offers such opportunities for visitors can be considered a perfect area for the development of balneal tourism. Romania has a variety of thermal waters allowing the treatment
of various conditions in balneal resorts in the country. In close
