            Romanian pre-college students tell
the world about the performance of
the Romanian education system
The achievements of the Romanian pre-college students have long crossed the borders of Romania. Year after year, dozens of young people succeed in ranking among the first in international competitions. Exact sciences, as well as areas pertaining to the future, such as robotics, have brought to the fore worldwide the intelligence and perseverance of Romanian children and youth.
As an illustration, in 2018, the Centenary Year, Romania ranked first in the International Olympiad in Informatics. Romania’s computer science team won four medals (two gold medals and two silver medals) at the 25th edition of the Central European Informatics Olympiad (CEOI) held in Warsaw (Poland). In the unofficial ranking by number of
medals, Romania ranked first, on a par with the host country, Poland.
This year's competition was attended by 55 competitors from 13 countries.
Another five students achieved remarkable results at the 23rd International Astronomy Olympics: two gold medals, one silver medal and two bronze medals.
The 23rd edition of the International Astronomy Olympics took place in Colombo (Sri Lanka) and gathered 80 competitors from 18 countries. The Romanian Olympiad team continued on the same trend of exceptional performances at the International Earth Science Olympiad (IESO), with four medals received at the 2018 edition: one silver medal and three bronze medals.
The Romanian Olympiad team also received three gold medals and one silver medal at the International Geography Olympiad 2018. The awards placed Romania first in the ranking of nations. The International Geography Olympiad took place in Canada and gathered 160 students from 43 countries.
Romania won gold, silver and bronze medals, as well as two mentions at the International Mathematics Olympics that took place this year in Cluj- Napoca.
The Romanian Olympiad team for the International Physics Olympiad replicated the previous remarkable results, winning five prizes in this year’s edition: one gold medal, two silver medals and two bronze medals.
