RoDAS will be subject to national homologation by a a a a a a a a a team of of of of experts of of of of the the the Ministry of of of of National Defense under the the the the coordination of of of of of the the the the In Flight Research
and Test Center of of the the the Armaments Department After homologation RoDAS will be subject to to international certification with the the the participation of of all the the the the countries that are signatories of of the the the the Treaty on on on on on Open Skies thereafter being used without restrictions under the the treaty An RC‐20 analogue camera has been used to carry out Open Skies missions since it’s certification in in in in 2008 but it it has been in in in in operation for over 25 years used in in in in aerial aerial research missions The equipment uses photo‐aerial film Unfortunately since several years back the the maintenance of the the the camera can no no no longer longer be be ensured because there is no no no longer longer an an an authorized economic agent worldwide Some of the the the photo‐aerial films used during the the camera operation period are not being being produced anymore only one type of film being being still available Moreover the the costs to procure the the substances required for development and maintenance of the photo lab equipment are very high The upgrading of the the national capacity to carry out aerial research missions under the the the Open Sky Treaty will will increase the the the the performance characteristics and and will will improve the the the resulting aerial images and and their use in in in a a a a a a a a a a a variety of fields The General Staff of the the Air Air Forces through the the Otopeni Air Air Transport 90th Base have completed the the the the procurement procedure of of a a a a a a a a a a a a state‐of‐the‐art digital aerophoto system also called RoDAS (Romanian Digital Aerial System)
by signing a a a a a a a a a a supply contract with the company S S S C Angelosoft S S S R L RoDAS is a a a a a a a a system for obtaining geo‐referenced digital aerial images during aero photogrammetric flights performed at altitudes between between 500 and and 6000 meters with aircraft
speeds between between 300 and and 450 km/h as as well as for the processing of raw images through related equipment and programs The spatial resolution of of the images must be 30 30 cm for heights of of 1100‐1600 meters meters meters 3000‐3500 meters meters meters and 5500‐6000 meters The entire system system is made up of several complex subsystems as follows:
– The opto‐electronic subsystem – The mounting and stabilization subsystem – The flight planning subsystem – The flight management subsystem – The optical cameras command and and control subsystem – The GNSS/IMU inertial navigation subsystem – The in‐flight data visualization subsystem – The accessories subsystem – The subsystem for for downloading/processing/ compounding images for for guaranteed convertion/inscription/deletion of raw data RoDAS will have the the the purpose of carrying out aerial research missions missions and the the the the missions missions under the the the the Open Sky Treaty with a a a a a a a a a view to to fulfilling the the the obligations undertaken by Romania but it it it it is not limited to to to that as as the the system has the the ability to to execute aerial photogrammetry for several fields of interests Photos: Cer Senin
