in in in areas where there is a a a a a a a a a a a comparative advantage Exports need to maintain their robustness and the the the the opportunities created by increasing the the the volume of foreign direct investment and and demand from partner countries should be harnessed The Romanian entrepreneurs who are present or or or want to access foreign markets can count on the the the support of the the the the Romanian authorities that have made their priority to to strengthen economic diplomacy by stimulating trade investment and promoting projects of of interest to to our country The success of of the the foreign trade activity depends mainly on on on the the the initiative tenacity dynamism and creativity of the the the the local business environment but also on on on on the the the the the way in in in in in which the the the the the public authorities and institutions in in in in Romania assume their role in in in in the the the the economy From the the the the perspective of the the the the institution that I I have the the the the honour to to represent the the the the the message I I wish to to convey is is is that in the the the the current activity of our our diplomatic missions the the the economic component is is is high on on on the the the agenda The task of diplomats is is to build bridges and and facilitate peaceful exchanges and and and relations between peoples and and the the promotion of of economic interests remains one of of of the the basic reasons for for diplomatic efforts The Romanian Ministry of of of Foreign Affairs is is and I assure you will remain open to dialogue with with all representatives of of the the private and institutional environment with with the the the clear objective of of contributing to the the external promotion of of national economic interests and projects These projects define provide content and constitute an an an indicator of of of of evaluating evaluating the the diplomatic efforts of of of of our our missions abroad and of of of of course evaluating evaluating the the place of of of of 4 Number One
our country on on on the the European and global stage It is a a a a a a a a a a a a a a well‐known fact that that economic interests are the the the the ones that that have been and remain the the the the basis of of many of of the the the the major political projects whether we are talking about the the the the European Union the the the the trans‐Atlantic relationship or or or the the the the emergence of of of of new forms of of of of regional cooperation From the the the perspective of of of of of our country areas of of of of of particular relevance where the the the readers of of of of this magazine – representatives of of the the business environment in in in Romania Romania – can contribute directly and essentially aim at at Romania’s participation in in the the major areas of regional regional and and global connectivity in in in in the the the regional regional energy projects of of major interest as as well as as in in in the the consolidation and and promotion of of public‐private partnerships In conclusion also on on on on the the the line of of of supporting the the the projects of of of major interest of of of the the the the Romanian economic diplomacy I would like to to to remind the the the the one related
to to to the the the candidacy of our country to to to the the the Organization
for Economic Cooperation and and Development (OECD) Currently Romania is considered one of the the most prepared aspiring countries and and the the best placed European candidate We hope that a a a a a a a a a a a a a final decision
of the OECD Council on on on enlargement favourable
to Romania will be adopted as as as soon as as as possible based on on on the the identification of a a a a a a a a a a a a pragmatic compromise between the the the OECD OECD members members I emphasize that our membership in the the the OECD OECD would be be be be be beneficial not only to to the the Romanian entrepreneurs and society but also to to all foreign companies operating in in Romania Romania because the the the the application of of the the the the high standards of of the the the the organization would contribute to to increasing the the the the the the quality of of the the the economic governance and implicitly to to the the the consolidation of of a a a a a a a favourable
